Pay Phone · the home screen · 5 more directions · grounded in Apple Design Award craft

Five more — each built on a language Apple has actually awarded.

References studied first: Flighty (ADA 2023 — live tracking as theater), Crouton (ADA 2024 Interaction — effortless focus), Rooms (ADA 2024 — dimensional play), plus Apple's own Wallet and Phone apps — the two most-battle-tested interfaces on iOS. Same locked brand throughout. D through H; A–C from the last round still stand.

The Departures Board
DNA: Flighty · airport flip-boards. Live operations as theater: your booked call is a tracked flight; tonight's payphones are departures.

Board Search Booked You
Feels like: Flighty for fame. Your booked call gets a live tracked card (lobby → call, like a flight leg); everything else is a departures board with statuses — OPEN, SELLING OUT, SCHEDULED. Precision breeds trust, and it's begging for Live Activities + Dynamic Island. Best if anticipation is the emotion you want to own.

The Wallet
DNA: Apple Wallet. Celebs are passes in a stack; your booking is a golden ticket up top. The most iOS-native metaphor there is.

Payphones Search Booked You
Feels like: opening Apple Wallet and seeing a golden ticket. Your booking is a physical pass — perforation, punch-holes, scan code — and every celeb you watch is a colored pass in the stack; tap to fan out. Ownership made tangible: fans collect payphones. Best if the keepsake/collector feeling is the hook.
Direction F
The Phone
DNA: Apple's own Phone app. Favorites, Recents, a green in-call banner. The metaphor played completely straight — it IS a phone.

Favorites Recents Keypad You
Feels like: the iPhone's own Phone app, which every human already knows how to use. Favorites with green "open" dots, Recents with call arrows (even "missed her drop"), the green banner when a payphone is live, and a Keypad tab where you punch a celeb's payphone code from a poster. Zero learning curve; maximum brand commitment. The boldest and most memorable of the five.

The Vault
DNA: Rooms (ADA 2024) · visionOS glass. Dimensional, glassy, a physical 3D coin. Playful depth with money-metal warmth.

Payphones Search Booked You
Feels like: a jewel box. A rendered 3D coin floats at the top (it spins when a call connects), cards are frosted glass with real depth, and the Book button has metallic light in it. The most premium-object feeling of the set — the app as a vault you keep valuable access inside. Best if you want luxury without stiffness.

The Billboard
DNA: concert posters · Nike campaigns · type-first editorial. No imagery at all — the news IS the interface, set in giant type.

Payphones Search Booked You
Feels like: a concert poster that updates live. Giant type announces who's on the phone right now; the CTA is a bold rule-lined "BOOK NOW"; everyone else is a marquee list. Needs no photos from talent (a real operational win) and screenshots beautifully — every screen is shareable marketing. Best if hype and drops drive the app.
The field is now 8 (A–H). My updated pick after doing the research: F (The Phone) is the sleeper — it's the only direction no competitor can copy without copying the name, it has zero learning curve, and it commits totally to the brand ("it IS a payphone"). D (Departures) is the craft pick — Flighty-style live tracking maps perfectly onto the anxiety→anticipation arc of a booked call, and it's built for Live Activities. B from the last round remains the safe premium choice. Pick a letter and the full app gets built in it.
